latest commission

there's something really lovely about making a cushion for a little baby.

this is Oscar's cushion, commissioned by a friend for their godson.

a new quilt

I've been a fan of Gee's Bend quilts for some time but was always a bit nervous as to how to start making something that looked so organic.

The answer is...baby steps. My blocks are still straight but of varying widths (not that you'd guess from this picture), quite an accomplishment for someone who likes being precise.

I'm hoping to finish piecing the top of this tomorrow and then I can start quilting.

Roxy says hi from her favourite (sunny) spot on our bedroom floor.

paint, paint and more paint

Hurrah the painting is neeeeeeearly done. I've even started a spot of crochet...

The last thing big job is the hallway. We had the dado rail put in just before Christmas but it's only been in the last couple of weeks that I've begun to embark on the grand task.

Here's things as they stand. This weekend we've hired a combi ladder - oh the glamour - to paint the big wall going up the stairs.
